Phenom Racing Group uses all four components of the
Molecule™ Technical Fabric Care System on their racing
gear. “As soon as we take a new suit out of the box, we
thoroughly spray it with Molecule Protector and throw it
into the dryer to cure,” Mercier says. Molecule™
Protector creates a durable coating that helps Nomex®
repel combustible stains.
Phenom Racing Group does not use dry cleaning services
or ordinary detergents on their protective clothing.
Typical laundry products contain additives that can
attract moisture, oils, and flammable stains.
“We use Molecule Wash and Spot Cleaner to clean our gear
in standard washing machines,” Mercier continues. “It’s
easy to use and it’s made for Nomex.” Molecule™ Wash
also contains an antimicrobial agent to inhibit the
growth of bacterial odors.
Between washings, Phenom drivers keep their suits fresh
with Molecule™ Refresher. It contains the same powerful
antimicrobial agent found in Molecule™ Wash.
“During long racing events, we simply turn the suits
inside out and spray on Refresher between races,”
Mercier says.
“The whole system works together to keep us comfortable
